Siemens and Meltio partner to accelerate additive manufacturing in the US.

Multinational giant Siemens is partnering with laser-based metal printing company Meltio to help accelerate the transformation of the US AM industry through serial additive manufacturing.

Siemens will provide its technology and expertise to AM machine builders in the US through its Charlotte Advanced Technology Collaboration Center (or “CATCH” for short) in North Carolina. They will offer end-to-end solutions for AM fabrication shops and production facilities, with software for product design, digital twin machine simulation, and virtual execution of manufacturing methods.

Siemens will also purchase and install an ExOne/Desktop metal production system and a Meltio robotic system with the Siemens SINUMERIK RunMyRobot application, which is designed to manage the kinematic paths of industrial robots.

“More than 100 machine builders around the world are implementing Siemens automation solutions to industrialize their machines,” said Rajas Sukthankar, vice president of motion control at Siemens Industry, Inc.

“Now is the time to support more customers and accelerate their transformation from individual machines to serial additive manufacturing factories. North America is heading in this direction.”
The engineering company is also establishing an Additive Manufacturing Advisory Board, made up of industry experts, to provide guidance as they support the growing needs of the AM market.
“We are at the threshold of a new frontier in American industry, where the implementation of additive manufacturing will bring fundamental changes to the landscape, end-to-end, from product to machine to manufacturing,” said Steve Vosmik, director of Siemens. . Additive manufacturing in the USA.

“Siemens is very excited to be at the forefront of this process.”
